I was excited when Anandtech announced that Nixeus would be selling a 27" @ 2560x1440 for $430 4 months ago. I bought one as soon as they went on sale, and when I started my new job I asked them to buy me another one. Now I have dual 27"ers. I will never be able to go back to smaller screens and less resolution. I can have my IDE split my files into two panes @ 120 character widths and they'll comfortably fit in a single monitor, including the sidebar containing the tree. This is great for TDD! They have been sold out since they started, so I'm guessing they just want to match demand.
