I particularly agree with your conclusion: >after dealing with senior business execs for a long while, I feel IT-as-is is untenable. without a rethink, the abject hatred that many business people have towards IT will grow and rogue systems will flourish. At one of my former jobs, the CEO hated IT, and didn't hesitate to let us know it, either. I was told through the grapevine that he felt it was the one area of the company he couldn't control. Fantastic response, and I do defer to your more extensive experience :)
