On Falling Over
- georgemcbay 14y agoThat was painful to read. I dislocated my right shoulder in a snowboarding accident a few years back (though nowhere nearly as bad as described in the article, certainly not a shriek-worthy dislocation). I've since re-dislocated it numerous times since (once rock climbing, once in-door skydiving, once doing a fairly every-day activity and just putting weight on it in a bad way). If you don't get serious corrective surgery, shoulder dislocations are often one of those things you live with that is lurking and ready to strike again even if your arm feels and works fine day to day. If you ever dislocate your shoulder, see a specialist or at least approach future activities with the understanding that while it may feel 100% fully healed, it may not be nearly as stable in stress situations as it was before the first time you hurt it. "Intelligent design" indeed.
