Any backend will scale if it runs in parallel and you throw enough hardware at it.
Perhaps a more important question would be whether PHP scales codebase-wise in larger projects.

- beering 14y agoFacebook is maybe not the best example. Remember, they did end up writing about 3 different implementations of PHP because of their scale. If anything, their case shows that they threw enough money at it to make it work.

I am working on integrating it into my stack. > If anything, their case shows that they threw enough money at it to make it work. I thank them for their money and will now apply their hard earned work. What other language has that kind of commitment behind it?
- jtreminio 14y agoAsk Wikipedia.
- virtualwhys 14y ago> Any backend will scale if it runs in parallel and you throw enough hardware at it. Note to self: research (non-existent) parallel processing in (single threaded) PHP; also, find enough hardware to make PHP scale ;-)
- pestaa 14y agoThreading is one way to parallelize software. Scalability requirements are finite, therefore required hardware is, too.
