Personally, I'm looking into the possibility to work at SpaceX, exactly for such reasons. I feel like I can't do anything "remotely important" at any job I've found in the silicon valley, and i haven't done any innovation myself that i deem to be "really changing something that I believe in". So I though, I might as well help a company that does just that, even if I'm not going to be the one designing the actual rockets.
