You don't need an iPhone to use Facetime.
I have a 6 and 8 yr old and both received iPad minis for Christmas and they have already FaceTimed with their friends and cousins via their new devices.
And we are now spending a lot of time educating our children how to properly utilize technology to communicate with their friends. That includes a number of very firm rules and regulations.

- da02 14y agoDo the rules/regs end up being fodder for creativity on how to break said rules/regs? I would imagine that is one of the problems with having smart and clever kids.

- yozmsn 14y agoWho gives a six year old a $200+ device? and How many other six year olds also have some apple product? I truly feel old... in my day you were lucky to get a gameboy color - and even that was only in 5th grade
