Equally, "it's like JSON, but binary and human-unfriendly".
- hayksaakian 14y agoYeah, this seems like a great optimization, but not something I'd want to start with.
- Mooby 14y agoQuite true. In fact, comparing MessagePack to JSON can only be interpreted as comparing $own_project with $most_popular_project, with hopes of getting some attention.
- creationix 14y agoHow is it binary unfriendly? It's designed to be super easy to parse using C. The lengths and types are in the first byte(s) and most conversions can be done using typecasts. And as far as human readable binary format, it's not that bad. I can usually read a hex dump of msgpack if I've been working with it all day.
- collinvandyck76 14y agoBut binary, and also, it is human-unfriendly.
- creationix 14y agoThat makes much more sense, thanks.
- gmac 14y agoExactly (or I'd have written "... binary- and ...").
