No, that's not what I meant. What I meant was that the information was so far ahead of its time that it seems like it could have come from a higher intelligence.
So, on the one hand, we must acknowledge how incredibly advanced this guy was, teaching us something we could not even grasp until recently. But at the same time, we feel he was misled by superstition about where that info came from.
We credit him so highly on the one hand, and disbelieve him so cavalierly on the other.
His story can be explained scientifically. But on the spectrum of stories that claim "divine revelation," this one has to be one of the more credible, simply because of how advanced the information was.

- negamax 14y agoThanks for sharing. I will read more on this. Loved this line "Newton was not the first of the age of reason, he was the last of the magicians".
- andrewflnr 14y agoSomeone in one of the other Ramanujan threads mentioned that if you did have divine guidance and wanted to prove it, dropping information that's ahead of your time but could be verified later is one obvious way.
- negamax 14y agoThat's every super intelligent person (as compared to his time's population set) ever. Aren't we proving some of Einstein's work now?
