- bryanlarsen 15d agoImmigrants in Canada have a higher labor force participation rate than Canadian born citizens do. When the wave of Syrians arrived a few years ago, most quickly got jobs. Many of them started working for businesses started by the Lebanese diaspora from the 80's.

- hylaride 15d agoWe mostly cherry-picked the educated Syrians, though. While I broadly support immigration, we're fresh off a backlash of the student visa abuse. We need to tread carefully.

- samrus 15d agoWhether are in favour of or against taking in asylum seekers, sharing that burden/responsibiltiy between partners would definitely be what people want
- DaSHacka 15d agoYou're making me jealous, now I'm thinking it really was a mistake to piss off Canada :D No need to send everyone back southbound or to the middle-east when we could have been sending them northbound instead! Oh Canada, won't you please reconsider? We're giving you our doctors and engineers! They're just on welfare temporarily, I promise!
