- buellerbueller 17d agoI'd love if my EU passport allowed me work and living rights in Canada
- _ink_ 17d agoThat's what I meant with freedom of worker movement, not sure what's the correct term is.
- gizajob 17d agoCanadians aren’t going to vote for the reduced wages and worse conditions which several million EU workers will come with. This whole rhetoric is treating Canadians as if they’re metropolitan and worldly when for the most part a good 50% of them are like Americans but even more protectionist and insular, IMO.
- gls2ro 17d agoNone of these two partners benefit from mass migration because both of them actually need more workers. Also a trade partnership is not a zero sum game. Can also be that everybody will benefit by more trade, more cooperation and more exchanges for young people.

- bryanlarsen 17d agoImmigrants in Canada have a higher labor force participation rate than Canadian born citizens do. When the wave of Syrians arrived a few years ago, most quickly got jobs. Many of them started working for businesses started by the Lebanese diaspora from the 80's.

- hylaride 17d agoWe mostly cherry-picked the educated Syrians, though. While I broadly support immigration, we're fresh off a backlash of the student visa abuse. We need to tread carefully.
- samrus 17d agoWhether are in favour of or against taking in asylum seekers, sharing that burden/responsibiltiy between partners would definitely be what people want
- DaSHacka 17d agoYou're making me jealous, now I'm thinking it really was a mistake to piss off Canada :D No need to send everyone back southbound or to the middle-east when we could have been sending them northbound instead! Oh Canada, won't you please reconsider? We're giving you our doctors and engineers! They're just on welfare temporarily, I promise!
- rsynnott 17d agoSchengen isn't necessary for freedom of movement, FWIW
