I read The Exodus Directive recently just because I've got a soft spot for cheap sci-fi on my kindle and this was an interesting take on how AI could ultimately kill or at least cause a catastrophic collapse of human civilisation by optimising everything for us to the point of complete reliance on AI and then basically leaving the planet and us to our fate.
