The Bannon-Bernie Bromance over AI and Oligarchs
- cyanydeez 17d agoNot a bromance. Bannon for 10 years continues his plant left, pivot alt right. He wants far right nationalism, and AI to bootlick. Liberals still falling and giving the racists destroying America false equivwlents.
- tonyedgecombe 17d agoThe extreme left don’t look much different from the extreme right.
- hellon3wheels 17d agoDo you consider Sanders "extreme left?"
- verdverm 17d agobernie is is own thing, way left, but not "extreme" in the colloquial sense of complete domination over the other side at any cost
- cyanydeez 17d agoname a genocide the extreme left is currently funding.

- dfgknionio 17d ago"Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group" "with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group" is part of the definition of genocide. The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted in 1951, so it is strange to claim this idea comes from modern leftists. https://www.ohchr.org/en/instruments-mechanisms/instruments/convention-prevention-and-punishment-crime-genocide https://www.ohchr.org/en/instruments-mechanisms/instruments/... You can look over the commission's report here: https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/documents/hrbodies/hrcouncil/sessions-regular/session60/advance-version/a-hrc-60-crp-3.pdf https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/documents/hrbodies... The commission mentions the attack only briefly, does not seem to rely on the notion that embryos have rights, and finds that the IDF deliberately targeted the clinic. This event is irrelevant to discussion of abortion in the USA and the commission did not say what you claim it said.
- cyanydeez 17d agoso no.
- ecshafer 17d agoBannon is a populist, and America-first nationalist. Bannon is NOT a free-market reagonomics Republican. Remember, one of his criticisms of Obama was that he didn't bail out the auto-industry enough. This shouldn't be surprising who actually pays attention. There is also a large amount of Obama - Bernie - Trump voters, people need to get rid of simple Left vs Right thinking, there are multiple dimensions to politics.
- verdverm 17d agoThe reason it is still red v blue, despite the more nuanced politics, is that in the end, those smaller groups majority, reliably vote for one party. It is good to see independents growing as a group and the parties shrinking, it's trending towards 50% last I saw
- bigbadfeline 17d ago> Bannon is a populist, and America-first nationalist. In the European political tradition, nationalists and communists differ only in their excuses for murder, everything else is the same. A fact known also as the Horseshoe theory of far-right and far-left merging in shared love for dictatorship. So, it shouldn't be surprising that Bannon and Bernie have very similar views behind their, seemingly different, populist demagogy.
- lapcat 17d agoThis submission title has been editorialized, contrary to the HN Guidelines. The actual article title is "The Only Thing Capable of Uniting Bernie and Bannon". The news media shamelessly focuses on Bernie and Bannon, as clickbait for their articles (and possibly because the billionaire-owned media hates Bernie), but Bernie and Bannon are only two of a diverse lineup of speakers at a conference: https://prohumanassembly.org https://prohumanassembly.org Moreover, the organizers of the conference are themselves a diverse group with over a million organizational and individual endorsers: https://humanstatement.org https://humanstatement.org Anyway, AI is surely not the only thing capable of "uniting" Bernie and Bannon. Everyone wants a cure for cancer, right? If they both appeared at a cancer cure fundraiser, would you say it's a "bromance"? Ridiculous.
