Apple May Return to Server Market with Nvidia Technology
- MarkWayneNewton 21d agolol
- joshstrange 21d agoNvidia and Apple and Server hardware. What an unlikely combo, I would never have put money on that happening. Heck, neither Apple+Nvidia nor Apple+(publically available)-server-hardware were something I would have guessed. But I think the future is local inference and I'd love to have Apple as another contender in this space.
- GuestFAUniverse 21d agoIf they start again, they wasted 15y of not gaining more experience in that field. How will they grow the necessary _mature_ software? It takes decades for a filesystem to mature. Their system tools are a mixed bag: some things are outstanding, others are clown car level abominations that need interactive input.
- BugsJustFindMe 21d ago> "M8 processors" > "potential release date in 2029, but it could be canceled before then." It seems unreasonable to care about this so soon.
- LoganDark 20d agoI feel this in general these days. Once again I would love some sort of news outlet or aggregator that only posts about things that have already happened, as opposed to things years into the future.
- sschueller 21d agoI wonder how many fools will get burned again after last time.
- Danox 21d agoHope not sounds very circular in a AI model maker fashion, at this point in time Apple doesn’t need Nvidia for anything let the current AI gang buying Nvidia hardware and software, bubble burst and just stay back and enjoy the show.
- seabre 20d agoHas Apple patched the 49 day integer overflow TCP timestamp clock bug yet?
- iAMkenough 20d agoYES! The NVIDIA bubble grows larger. What multi-billion dollar company isn't trading money back and forth with NVIDIA now?

- nxobject 20d agoOooh, you can still go even more vanilla. Berkshire Hathaway?
- iAMkenough 20d agoGive it time… I’ve read people are installing GPUs in their vehicles for aftermarket assisted-driving systems like Comma.ai Sorting facilities also are increasingly utilizing computer vision to keep trash out of recycling processing.
- cucumber3732842 20d agoPretty much all freight rail is already entangled with AI. I assume it's just a matter of time for stuff like WM.
- ksec 20d agoMakes very little sense to me. As much as I want a Xserve, I don't see how Apple has a competitive advantage for the target market. Nvidia already or will definitely make a product that will compete with Apple, as they are moving towards full integration. They also owns the networking, GPU, CPU, and other parts as well. Apple's only advantage is M8 potentially being slightly faster and macOS. Neither is a moat for the intended market.
- dwaite 20d agoAnyone with access to the article know what their sources are on this? This seems pretty out there compared to say adopting UALink.
