- thih9 20d agoIreland is part of the EU.
- toasty228 20d ago> ought to take No one is taking anything here, but I think the american mind cannot comprehend complex things such as having allied and building agreements
- throwaway894345 20d agoAmerican here. Only a third of us are MAGA. Still plenty to ruin our country though.

- LastTrain 20d agoHalf. The other sixth that vote that way are also MAGA
- throwaway894345 20d agoNah, they're independent and they've swung pretty hard away from MAGA once it affected their personal finances. Far from noble, but also pretty far from MAGA.
- LastTrain 19d agoNah, if you voted for him three time you’re MAGA for the purposes of this thread, which is basically a response to someone saying “all you Americans are dumb assholes”
- throwaway894345 19d agoI think we mostly disagree about whether "dumb assholes" is a boolean or continuous variable.
- 0x10ca1h0st 15d agoWhen I play Civilization games, it's always domination by force, never religion, trade, etc.
- throwaway894345 20d agoIf rather see the US stop self-sabotaging by destroying our relationships that established us as the monopole.
- data-ottawa 20d agoSo two regions declare they want to be closer and your reaction is “we should conquer a couple countries just to show them up”? This is exactly the problem.
- LeBit 20d agoThe USA would take them by force because there is no way anyone in the world wants to have anything to do with the USA. But taking someone by force in on brand for Trump, so it might happen.
- jeroenhd 20d agoThey won't need to if they start electing normal politicians and put in the effort to fix the damage they've done over the past decade.
- anon7725 19d agoAre we talking UK or USA now?
- squidbeak 20d agoTelling that you would use the verb 'take' rather than 'offer'. But these days, it seems the USA has trouble 'taking' anything besides Venezuelan moustaches. As far as an offer goes, polls find that almost third of the UK now regards the USA as a threat rather than an ally. https://www.opinium.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Opinium-UK-perceptions-of-the-United-States-Jan-2026.pdf https://www.opinium.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Opinium-U...
- rsynnott 20d agoAre you seriously saying that the US should _invade the UK_? If nothing else, I mean, see how Iran's going, now imagine that with aircraft carriers, submarines, nuclear-tipped SLBMs, and so forth. Like you're pretty much talking about WW3.
