Ask HN: Who has been contacted by 5+ hiring platforms?
Been contacted by well over 5 pop-up "hiring platforms" in response to "Who Wants to be Hired?" this past month. Vast majority reference the hacker news post.
My knee-jerk reaction is we should name-and-shame, but it honestly feels hopeless at this point. Like the internet is well and truly cooked.
- jamwise 20d agoBack when I was hiring my team we looked through HN posts quite a bit to reach out. It's a good resource for potential employers. With everyone trying to AI-ify everything these days, makes sense they'd try to do the same with their "platform". Are we all just going to go back to doing everything IRL? At least until the humanoid robots start following us on the street.
- akerl_ 19d agoAm I missing something? You posted that you wanted to be hired, some job placement firms reached out, referencing your post.
- Rapzid 19d ago> Readers: please only email these addresses to discuss work opportunities. Yes, you are missing the ground rules.
- akerl_ 19d agoHow is a hiring platform reaching out to you not related to work opportunities?
- gus_massa 19d agoThere is a not so thin line between "direct job offer" and "spam from job boards".
- akerl_ 19d agoI'd be in favor of a more updated rule saying "direct job offer". But the post as it currently exists seems to not make that distinction.
- Rapzid 15d agoHow is an invitation to participate in a job board SaaS a "work opportunity"? Let's get real here; it's crystal clear. It doesn't "work adjacent topics". It says "work opportunities". AKA, a JOB.
