Are you pretending that you are unaware that this can happen, or are you showing contempt for people who gain or lose weight? I don't find either useful.

- anticorporate 10d agoTo be fair to the parent commenter, I wondered the same thing, and I'm someone whose weight has fluctuated by >60% over the course of my marriage without needing my ring resized. Having been both obese and medically underweight over the course of that time, I'm not particularly contemptful of people who are either.
- dhosek 9d agoI’ve not quite had the same dramatic change of weight (only about 20% gain), but my fingers have retained their diameter through that. I was genuinely curious about what caused people to need resizing.
- anticorporate 7d agoThe only thing I can figure is that my change wasn't extreme enough. I guess mine is centered on a roughly healthy weight, with fluctuations ~30% above and below that, which might be quite different than fluctuations only above. (Thankfully I'm now much closer to the midpoint now).
