Making a movie in pure SVG using SMIL

- Gualdrapo 18d agoI wish the likes of Inkscape had a SMIL feature (or if I had a magic want I'd revive KDE's Karbon to be able to do this). Doing SMIL animations "by hand" is rather tricky and as far as I know there's no comprehensive tool to do this - i.e. something that fully covers both SVG and SMIL.
- chrismorgan 18d agoIn 2004, when they were working on 0.40, it was on the roadmap for 0.49 <https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Roadmap&oldid=4153#Milestone_15_-_Animation_-_Inkscape_0.49 https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Roadmap&oldid...>. Unfortunately it never happened, though they invite people interested in implementing it to join the development team <https://inkscape.org/learn/animation/ https://inkscape.org/learn/animation/>.
- zdeeb 18d agoyeah... i dunno why SMIL doesn't get much love. The only reason why I learned about this I was looking at features chrome deprecated over the years and came across this thread https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/blink-dev/c/5o0yiO440LM https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/blink-dev/c/5o0yi...... they wanted to kill it.
