My favourite feature about this release is that support for ultra wide monitors dramatically improved.
I bought a MacBook Pro (M5 Pro) in march and was shocked that it did not work properly with my LG 38WN95C-W Monitor (3840x1600@144Hz via USB-C).
This has been fixed with macOS 27. I finally can use the native resolution + HiDPI with my monitor.
- egorfine 20d agoOh! How's the text rendering now? In macOS 26 I had to return a new ultrawide because macOS hates non-retina displays and text was blurry af. Worth trying now?
- rlam2x51 20d agoYes, it fully works for me! Terminal: system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType Output: macOS 26: Displays: LG HDR WQHD+: Resolution: 6400 x 2666 UI Looks like: 3200 x 1333 @ 120.00Hz macOS 27: Displays: LG HDR WQHD+: Resolution: 7680 x 3200 UI Looks like: 3840 x 1600 @ 120.00Hz 144 Hz works as well. I had to undo some of my previous configurations (0: disabled, 2: default) defaults -currentHost write -g AppleFontSmoothing -int 2 Apple lists ultrawide display support as a feature: Ultrawide display support. Now you can get higher resolutions on ultrawide displays, such as 5K at 120Hz. And your display arrangements stay exactly as you left them, for a seamless experience every time you plug in. - egorfine 19d agoThank you very much!
- jazdw 19d agoI got a MacBook a few weeks ago, first Apple computer I have ever owned. I was so surprised when I plugged my 4K monitor into it, there didn't seem to be a way to run it at native resolution and all the text was aliased.
- egorfine 19d agomacOS has no problem running 4k displays for like forever. We're talking about ultrawide non-retina screens, and these had various problems.
- hedora 19d agoThey hide native resolution on a lot of displays. Text is blurry on those as a result. Thankfully, my desktops all run x11, so Apple’s fractional scaling brainrot hasn’t spread to my Linux or BSD’s yet.
