The usual "images burn in" OLED concern isn't even at all applicable on a VR headset, where the entire image naturally changes every frame.
The contrast, low-latency and power efficiency of OLED seem a no-brainer.
- cubefox 19d agoLCDs can get a lot brighter than OLED screens, which means the screen strobing (for reduction of persistence blur during eye movement) includes shorter light flashes, which means you get less visible persistence blur. That's why the Quest 3 (LCD) has less blur than the far more expensive Vision Pro (OLED). OLED screens have much better black levels, but those are perhaps a lesser priority than reducing persistence blur.
