(i(Pad)?|mac)OS 27 no longer allows Apple Intelligence to be disabled from one place like you could in iOS 26.
Anyone who is trying to reduce their AI consumption or see fewer AI features might be interested in this change.
I posted to Tell HN about it a few minutes ago here (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49704226 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49704226), but TL;DR is that the only way to turn this off is to either disable each AI feature independently or apply a '.mobileconfig' profile that does it.
- asa123 12d agothat seems mostly sensible? you are still able to do it, but the features probably should not be treated as a monolith
- nunez 12d agoI liked the monolith. If I didn't want any AI on my device, I liked having the ability to switch that off and be done with it like Firefox offers (and what Apple offered in the last major release).
