BongBong tank shooter game. My first game. I wanted to recreate a game that is kind of a mix between old Battle City (NES) and Dyna Blaster, which I used to play as a kid in the 90s. I wanted to have a game where you don't just have retro graphics and beautiful explosions with realistic physics, but I also wanted to capture map building and playing with your friends - locally and online.
I'm building it in Rust and Raylib, using modern agentic approaches. Both Rust and Raylib let me compile and run the game locally on Mac/Linux/Windows and in the browser via WASM. I've also managed to get it to run successfully on Apple iOS. I will likely venture into Android as well, as I want a game that works across platforms so people can play it regardless of their platform.
Any feedback whatsoever is greatly appreciated. :)
- clivedup 14d agoHa, love it. I didn't really know the rules, but enjoyed protecting the frog. I played a few games, and each time was protecting the frog. I wished I had a turn trying to kill the frog!
- otobrglez 14d agoThank you! I should clarify that I'm currently spending a lot of time building the engine (tank movement, physics, etc.). After that, I'll introduce more of the storyline, maps, and levels. The game has 3 modes. "Protect the frog", where you must protect the frog. "Hunt", where you hunt for opponents' frogs and "Destroy", where there is just annihilation. U can change the mode by switching to "build" and then going to "map". There you can set everything. From tanks to mission to waves, etc etc... The idea is that the switching between build and play is as seamless as possible.
