No one is screaming. Nike’s market cap is just being right-sized to reflect the lack of moat in the clothing/shoe business. Personally, Nike’s $54B vs Adidas’ $28B is still too high.
- pandaman 17d agoFrom what I understand, their moat was the exclusive contract with Michael Jordan - it was a novel marketing at the time. I guess the novelty eventually wore off and other basketballers are not as skilled at selling shoes as Jordan.
- MiloLeo 17d agoI know this does not really contribute to the discussion and I have nothing against you or what you've said, but man am I sick of reading the word moat in this context.
- lotsofpulp 17d agoMay I ask why? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_moat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_moat It seems like a very appropriate term that quickly conveys its meaning if your business is presumed to be the castle you want to protect.
