I think a lot of the people who say coding is dead either have low standards or or are low skilled. If you still think the quality of the codebase matters then agents absolutely cannot do the job of a human yet. The only way to know this is to review their code and understand how bone headed the decisions made by agents are. Sure, it may solve the problem and add unit tests, but it's absolutely creating junk while doing so.
