ElevenLabs Music v2.5
- gorgoiler 22d agoGosh, the voice singing “unlimited downloads!” but the underlying text saying “400 per day” sure hit hard. As if generative AI needed more publicity for its “we are literally just making stuff up” approach to getting stuff done. Cool presentation, but who signed off on this?
- andrewstuart2 22d agoMy favorite was right before that. Text: You have rights to what you make. Music: You own what you make.
- written-beyond 22d agoI thought that was on purpose...
- DrewADesign 22d ago> As if generative AI needed more publicity for its “we are literally just making stuff up” approach to getting stuff done. To be fair, there are technical considerations. Like, technically, nobody in charge of these companies gives a shit about misleading people.
- embedding-shape 22d agoI don't think this could be a model issue with not following properly (I hope for the sake of ElevenLabs), otherwise this would the most botched model release we've seen so far. Their main product release with a demo and not a single person listened to/read that demo and noticed the difference?! Something must have happened here, miscommunication between departments so the blog post authors/owners and whoever made the actual music generation missed some update in-between when they made this and the release. If it's truly that the model chose not to follow passed lyrics/hallucination, and they still released this, I'd be lost for words.
- Rochus 22d agoGreat sound quality, definitely better than Suno 5 and 6. It let me download a WAV file which goes unfiltered up to 20kHz (Suno goes to ~15kHz and has more artefacts). Here is my first attempt: http://rochus-keller.ch/Diverses/Polyphonic_Threshold_1.mp3 http://rochus-keller.ch/Diverses/Polyphonic_Threshold_1.mp3 And here are some Suno v5 tracks with the same prompt for comparison: https://rochus-keller.ch/?p=1428 https://rochus-keller.ch/?p=1428 All in all, Suno still has much better musicality (or at least had in version 5), but the sound quality of elevenmusic is clearly better.
- aabhay 22d agoThis probably corresponds to compute. ElevenLabs can burn compute for now, Suno can’t.
- Rochus 22d agoThey also seem to use a different encoding scheme which has more bandwidth and less artefacts up front. If you download a WAV from Suno, you still essentially have MP3 quality, just serialized to a WAV file. The elevenlabs WAV has full audio bandwidth instead and I checked frequency sections with a parametric EQ and noticed that e.g. the cymbals go high up in spectrum (which is not obvious in the given sample song where middle and bass frequencies dominate); with a bit of mastering the result is much better, but I posted the original here. I can also upload the WAV file if needed.

- scosman 22d agohighly recommend clicking "Listen to this blog post". Not what I was expecting...
- aabhay 22d agoThe music shows the post before legal got to put their hands on it lmao..
- crazysim 22d agoIt's interesting to see there are text differences between the audio and the blog post. At the point where it vocalizes unlimited downloads by Plus users, the text says 400. I wonder if that's hallucination or a post-music-generation edit.
- lellow 22d agoCompletely agree! First time seeing something like this.
- claaams 22d agoIncredibly depressing
- maxdo 22d agoWhy? I use to work as a dj 15 years ago , this is just a dream !
- claaams 22d agoAI music feels like I'm having a derealization/depersonalization episode.
- maxdo 19d agoBe proud of yourself some people can’t even detect , same with YouTube, my dad was watching a podcast 100% ai without any clue.
- dwb 22d agoAny DJ playing this shit deserves to have all their equipment taken from them.
- looksjjhg 22d agoThe demo is actually pretty good
- louisjoejordan 22d agoThank you!

- cypherpunks01 22d agoAre people asking for this to exist? There isn't a big enough pool of talented humans willing to work for low pay, widely available cheap recording gear and free musical educational material, that music needs to be made even cheaper and soullessly? I'm not against some AI uses, I use LLMs myself where it makes sense, but music is one of the things that we were told AI would free up all our time to do!!
- redox99 22d agoThis is orders of magnitude cheaper and faster than paying for a song to be created from scratch by a human.
- sho_hn 22d agoOuch, yes. One time I commissioned a musician I had befriended to make a piano arrangement of a favorite song to be played at our wedding. The result was great, but it sure wasn't cheap, even if reasonable. I'd still do this again however, because I really enjoyed the feeling of the community of people contributing our wedding and all the little stories attached. "I prompted ElevenLabs for this!" wouldn't be a memory; a fellow human spending some hours of their life on making this for us and what lead to it is. There's often value in the provenance of things.
- tehlike 22d agoI have a friend who came to me and said "i found a new french musician/singer that i really liked on <some platform>. Her voice is really good". and a day or two later he said "god dammit, it turned out to be AI" So yes, there'll be demand, no people won't often know it.
- Modified3019 22d agoMy list of French bands/singers I’ve explored is so far very limited, but offhand you might see if they enjoy either of the following https://melodysechochamber.bandcamp.com/track/some-time-alone-alone https://melodysechochamber.bandcamp.com/track/some-time-alon... (not in French language) https://endlessfloods.bandcamp.com/track/rites-futurs https://endlessfloods.bandcamp.com/track/rites-futurs (French language)
- whimblepop 22d agoI chose to listen to the blog post instead of just reading it. I don't know how much if it is just the idea of AI-generated music for me, but the listening experience was extremely repulsive.
- kridsdale3 22d agoI hate that this is actually perfectly listenable as background coding music I don't focus on.
- louisjoejordan 22d agoI'll take perfectly listenable
- maxdo 22d agoWhat a dream for creation , I already see my daughter in the future will create her own album just for specific event or party . It’s almost like dj but now you’re not just picking tracks of a similar theme , you choose a theme , and the rest of the music bands . Wow .

- BrokenCogs 22d agoHugged to death
- verytrivial 22d agoIf only ...
- daemonologist 22d agoYeah, the blog post itself loads for me but everything else is really struggling.
- system2 22d ago>ElevenLabs recently announced a multi-year strategic agreement with Universal Music Group (UMG) spanning licensing and product development. This agreement is separate from Music v2.5. I am more interested in knowing what this will bring in the future. This is bigger than their 2.5 or whatever version.
- louisjoejordan 22d agoCurious to know what you'd like to see in this space ^
- system2 22d agoCopyrights were the limiting factor for these AI music companies. If they made a deal, the AI songs would be even more indistinguishable from human songs. And these music labels will use more AI and ruin music even further.
- snovymgodym 22d agoImpressive technology I guess, but god things are trending in such a soulless direction.
- tidbeck 22d agoSide note: a bit funny they launched ”Muse, a conversational co-writer for ElevenMusic” August 27[1] and Facebook launched ”Muse: The World’s First Personal AI Agent” September 8[2] Naming is hard! - embedding-shape 22d agoThe list of "Muse"s keep growing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muse_(disambiguation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muse_(disambiguation)
- louisjoejordan 22d agoI came up with the name Muse before Meta did so this was painful
- vegancap 22d agoThanks, I hate it
- deleted 22d ago[deleted]
- louisjoejordan 22d agoWhich part do you hate the most?
- scarecrowbob 22d agoNot me, but I've been thinking about it a bit lately, and what I believe is this: the idea that we can have something that so deeply ingrained into my practice as a human just kind of tossed out there easily as if it's no thing at all, with no real cultural context, no material situation in history, no connection to a place or a time, denuded of anything that would make mark it as art of a time or place, or even of a specific individual person much less of some localized scene, work created without any specific need being filled to be immediately and unconsciously forgotten. In my life I have come to understand that almost all the things I -like- about music and my practices of it might seem so marginal to the work-in-itself as to be inconsequential: this band played this song on this day this way because this person heard that guy play it, and then they played it in these clubs for a while, and it was recorded and someone over there liked it and that's why "Mighty Might Bosstones". Like, for instance, remembering the Slim Richey chainsaw statue in the Starlight bar in Terrlingua and recalling how he replaced Karen Abrahams in the Jitterbug Vipers and wishing that I'd gone and played that gig for $30 in Austin with her and Richie Bowden when I could have, and then thinking how I'll never get to play with Augie Myer or Jon Inmon either and then understanding that the JV are why Dr Sick of the some dumb throwback band brings coked up New Orleans musicians to a last-Sunday concert at the Kerrville Folk Festival, and knowing that the fact I have played on that stage and stage managed both those bands sutures me into a history and a community far larger that I can fully understand much less put into something intelligible to other folks who haven't stood with a giant family tree of musicians on stages smaller than drum risers. The idea that you can make "music" totally a-historically, ex nihlo, and some folks would listen to it and not be able to taste the difference or even understand the weight of what they are saying when they say "this is that, this dumb shit is the same as what all yall do". That's what I hate the most. It's like they've invented zombies (in the 1932 film sense) and are proud of that instead of horrified, and I find it repulsive. I sometimes wish I believed in god so I could say if this is the kind of disgust that believers feel when folks are casually sacrilegious.
- msub2 22d agoCurrently not getting any kind of response on their UI when attempting to create something. No console messages or network requests are triggered when clicking the "Create" button.
- devinprater 22d agoI'll be much more interested when they combine this, ElevenReader, and their soundscapes, into audio dramas on-demand. I'd pay a good $20-30 per month for that.
- louisjoejordan 22d agoSame here - the pieces exist & our music model can now do voice + sfx + music in a single generation (5 min limit so these were chained together to form longer pieces). I made some here with our last model: https://elevenmusic.io/artists/elevenmusic-spaces https://elevenmusic.io/artists/elevenmusic-spaces
- song_synth 15d agoHey! Monic Theory can help with your score creation. No need to wait 5 minutes, our model is a literal music computer. https://monictheory.com/developer-api https://monictheory.com/developer-api
- louisjoejordan 22d agoI'm an engineer on elevenmusic and we are working hard to restore availability (which has been sporadic over the last 10 minutes). We're working very hard behind the scenes to bring it back online.
- d3Xt3r 22d agoQuick question, is it possible to create/extend tracks longer than 5 minutes, or is that a hard limit?
- 6thbit 22d agoFirst got a "Could not start playback". Then I got the music, which promises Unlimited lossless downloads for Pro tier, whereas the text says only 400 per month! Isn't this false advertising?
- louisjoejordan 22d ago1. Hopefully this should be fixed for you now 2. We're working very hard to get those 2 numbers aligned
- throwaway613746 22d ago[dead]
- dwb 22d agoWay, way worse than an utter waste of resources and ingenuity. Any musician using this is nothing in my eyes, unless it’s the weirdest, most subversive thing I’ve ever heard. Like maybe there are three or four actually creative uses for this, maybe, but all the rest of it will be a talentless void. Awful.
- BenzeneDream 22d agoThis is incredible! It definitely is better than Suno/Udio and you have quite a lot of creative control over each aspect - plus being able to download the stems is great!
- song_synth 15d agoDo you need mass music but don't want the AI label? Try Monic Theory. We can compose on your behalf, because our service was designed by a real Composer. https://monictheory.com/developer-api https://monictheory.com/developer-api
