  That's just the cost of utilizing the dating service known as college. Being able to spend recklessly and manage other people to do one's busywork is what appeals within that dating market. Nobody wants to date a broke loser, so to speak. Maybe you don't technically need four years to find the "love of your life", but many people like to play the field, as they say, which takes time. People are, after all, there for four years because, on average, they want to be.
