Rust supports opting into the C ABI
- teddyh 1mo agoSo does any other language which wants to be useful; being able to call C functions is table stakes for a systems programming language. But Rust itself can still only generate static binaries, because Rust doesn’t have a stable ABI.
- tcfhgj 1mo agoI am not talking about calling C functions, but about providing a stable ABI for your binary.
- teddyh 1mo agoCan a Rust program be compiled, by the normal Rust compiler, into a dynamically linked binary, linked to Rust libraries, by “opting in” to the C ABI?
- bryanlarsen 29d agoMore than C++ can.
