...Which was a perfectly valid choice in 2005. It was that or Ruby, more or less. Java, ASP, and ColdFusion were a thing for enterprise, otherwise it was Perl CGI, Python, or some crazy custom C++ stuff.
- throwawayffffas 12d agoPHP was never a good choice for anything. Paul Graham and company made Viaweb in lisp. Good programmers find good tools to use. Ruby and python were the obvious choices in 2004. Even though the ecosystem was not what it is today.
