An iPhone is not sufficient. I had a perfectly working Find My with the AirPods Pro 1&2. I just bought the newest AirPods Pro 3 and they can’t be found with the iPhone unless I upgrade to the newest operating system. Fair enough they advertise a higher precision. But they don’t write that even for the previous low precision, you need now the newest operating system.

The new AirPods have both: - the ability for the CASE to send a sound using Find My - have sub-foot accuracy when using a kind of "radar" via the phone If the "play a sound on my iphone" from my watch has saved my weeks of time looking for my phone, this just brings the feature to my Air Pods.
