- rootusrootus 22d agoDepends on if it starts to get a crease after using it a while. I tend to assume that this is why Apple chose not to adopt folding screens as quickly as Android phones did.
- omikun 22d agoJust like the first iPod and iPhone.
- 1970-01-01 22d agoWhat iPods could make a phone call and browse the Web in 2007 that weren't made by Apple?
- doom2 22d agoIt's a shame there isn't the kind of competition in the US when it comes to mobile phones as there is in China. Many HN users would likely never buy a Chinese OEM device, but if you look at the variety of devices offered by Chinese brands, they're trying all sorts of approaches. Kind of like their EV market. Meanwhile, your choices in the US are Apple, Samsung, Motorola, Google, and that's pretty much it. I wouldn't say there's a ton of innovation between them...kind of like the large US automakers.
- fsflover 21d agoYou forgot about one of the most innovative phone in recent time, Librem 5: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/docs/community-wiki/-/wikis/Frequently-Asked-Questions#15-how-innovative-is-the-librem-5 https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/docs/community-wiki/-/wikis/F...
- asdff 22d agoI mean that is the business. These companies are in the business of ordering parts from components vendors and leasing floor space to assemble them after all. Folding screen is probably something you can order from many companies in shenzen at scale right now (or whichever chinese city is the "cell phone screen" hub, might not be shenzen).
