The "Hundreth Monkey" makes an even stronger claim. It claims that after a threshold is reached then everybody will have a certain knowledge or behavior, even if they have NEVER heard of it before. Supposedly, once a critical mass of monkeys on an island learned to wash sweet potatoes then monkeys on a neighboring island who had no contact with the first set started washing their sweet potatoes. Essentially, they all jumped on the bandwagon without knowing the bandwagon was even there. It is, of course, hogwash. Never been reproduced to my knowledge. It is often used by hippy sorts to explain how they are going to change the world's behavior.
