I recommend some other functional language like Scheme or OCaml. All I got from my time with Haskell was frustration. I read RWH and worked through tutorials. I never got to a point where it didn't seem like the simplest tasks weren't painful.
- tomjakubowski 14y agoReal World Haskell isn't a very good introductory text. Some of the early chapters are riddled with errors and confusing, contradictory instructions. Learn You a Haskell For Great Good! is one of the better introductory programming books I've read, and the author writes in a ridiculously fun and easy-to-read style. http://learnyouahaskell.com/ http://learnyouahaskell.com/
