Istar's Spectrum rocket does not use RP-1 (kerosene), like Falcon 9 and Electron, which burns very dirty.
They are using liquid propane, which burns extremely cleanly, especially when combined with their liquid oxygen.
There is a lot of noise, but that should be the only pollution generated by this launch.
- consumer451 1mo agoOops, correct spelling is Isar.
- NetMageSCW 1mo agoThe first and second stages being disposed of aren’t pollution?
- consumer451 28d agoYeah, that's fair. I was thinking only locally. However, I would hope they are dropping both stages somewhere relatively responsible. I guess I don't know where that is for polar orbits.
