  The 2003 European heatwave had a death toll of 70,000. That should have been a warning for us to get AC.

      This is not a good argument. AC is needed every summer for some years now for much of northern europe, the only question is how many days per year. The last heatwave was not in 2003. You do not need AC in every house necessarily. You need ACs in public buildings and in places that matter for the most vulnerable population. You need at least places this population can go during the hottest part of the day. Solutions are known in places where heatwaves are common place, but somehow northern europe takes time to realise that they are actually solvable.

        And how does that solve the topic of this article: desertification? That was the point of my snark, that you completely missed. But please, tell us how we are supposed to AC the fields, the stables, the forests, the rivers...

        It doesn't, this does not mean society should not care about people who are most vulnerable during heatwaves. ACs are obviously no solution to desertification, if anything at mass scale they may even increase temps in dense urban environments. I reply to different comment than yours anyway, so you cannot interpret my comment as answering at yours.

Yearly - since when? What's your next beef after that? Should we put cows and sheep under AC? Forests and fields under AC? Iceland should start installing AC? The Magreb countries should live under the surface of the Earth like mole people? Why don't people relocate to the Antarctic, those idiots?
