- NekkoDroid 1mo agoIs this some joke I am missing? Cuz their comment is just the entire title of the article since it was cut off in the post.
- ThrowawayTestr 1mo agoWater found in ocean
- newsomix9xl 1mo agoYou mean "no surprise" or you mean "surveillance tool found in ocean of surveillance" or both?
- JohnnyLarue 1mo agoIf there's no oversight of tech companies, this is just what they do - they think they're adding features that will help them compete, but since they don't have a security focus, they rely on obscurity.
- newsomix9xl 1mo agoI think Chinese companies are all joint state owned enterprises or similar.
- cyanydeez 1mo agoDont blame on malice which is equally explained by capitalism. Flock didnt just start a surveillance system in the US by themselves.
- newsomix9xl 1mo agoSo, the poster said unsupervised companies will surveil to gain an advantage. I suggested Chinese companies aren't unsupervised, but are in fact state owned and very supervised (Chinese state surveillance is well known). You point out that surveillance is also a profit making business/product (flock). You could point to google, meta, and AI as emerging or profitable surveillance tool products. Does that mean Chinese products are engaged in free market surveillance and not state directed?
- cyanydeez 1mo agoSo China is so supervised and controled that it took then 10 years to find the richest man guilty and sented to prison: https://www.reuters.com/world/china/china-evergrande-founder-sentenced-life-imprisonment-cctv-reports-2026-08-20/ https://www.reuters.com/world/china/china-evergrande-founder... This is the logic of paranoia; we know they have a surveillance state the same way you know America has one.
