This is conjecture. Right now the stats simply don't reflect it. If there's evidence of corner cutting leading to rising reports of recalls or foodborne illness outbreaks, I'll certainly reconsider.
- bix6 1mo agoYou’re right, we should totally give them the benefit of the doubt!! https://www.notus.org/trump-white-house/federal-data-is-disappearing https://www.notus.org/trump-white-house/federal-data-is-disa... > “The status quo was, the federal government is going to collect and disseminate data and statistics,” said John Kubale, a University of Michigan professor who helps direct the world’s largest archive of social science research data, including sensitive U.S. federal government data. “That is no longer a reasonable assumption.”
- nazgulsenpai 1mo agoYou don't have to give them the benefit of anything when the point was about the statistics.
- CamperBob2 1mo agoA sane person would "reconsider" upon recalling that it was Trump who said, "We'd have fewer COVID cases if we'd just stop testing so much." But it sounds like you need more of a push than that.
- nazgulsenpai 1mo agoAs stated I have myriad issues with Trump and I will add that did not vote for him. That's just not relevant to this, and suggesting that I lack sanity is unnecessary.
- CamperBob2 1mo agoThe point is, if the evidence you demand does in fact exist, we know the Trump administration will try their best to conceal it. It is irrational to presume good faith when Trump is involved. That includes gathering, publishing, and interpreting statistics traditionally maintained by public health authorities. The one thing they are good at, if you don't count feathering their own nests, is hiding their failures.
- nazgulsenpai 1mo agoI understand your logic and it's a fair point. I certainly agree Trump admin has a track record and all the incentive to conceal data that would paint the admin negatively. I suppose time will tell.
