ICANN can't suspend second-level domains, this is up to the owner of .org (the Public Interest Registry) or the registrar of the particular domain (Gandi).
- N19PEDL2 1mo agoMaybe they can now move to a .it subdomain, since they are not designated as a terrorist organization in Italy.
- netrap 1mo agoThat makes the most sense to me. Although, I don't know if .org is subject to US law specifically? Is it?
- bortzmeyer 1mo agoPIR, the registry of .org is an US company, so clearly subject to US laws and Trump's explosions.
- silvanocerza 1mo agoThe .it in the past forced you to have public whois data, this changed in recent years thanks to GDPR. Probably they chose .org when they created the organization at the time.
