I really want the Ultima pack. Is this site legit?
- clone1018 14y agoYes it's legit, they've been in business forever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GOG.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GOG.com
- joverholt 14y agoI agree, very legit. The site is addictive, as I see great games from my past and just have to pick them up for only a few dollars. I figure I'll have time to play them in the future. Recently, they have also been creating Mac compatible apps for some of the games, so you don't need to mess with Boxer or boot into windows.
- jasonkostempski 14y agoHow do I know I can trust you and that wiki page? :) Got the pack. Good thing I took off the next 10 days. If anyone is looking for me, I'll be in the abyss.
- clone1018 14y agoI don't really care if you trust me.

- pbateman 14y agoIt's legit, it's been around for ages and it's DRM free. If I have to choose between Steam and GOG, and it is available on the both[1] I go with the latter and have not been disappointed. [1] Generally yes in my case because I'm a crotchety old man who plays video games from before the dawn of time.
- rm999 14y agoVery legit, but they lost a lot of goodwill from me when they shut down their website for several days and announced they were going out of business. It turned out it was all a glorified prank/PR stunt; the whole time all I could think was "great, yet another cloud service where I can lose all my purchases". http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/09/19/2250218/DRM-Free-Games-Site-GOGcom-Gone http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/09/19/2250218/DRM-Free-Ga... That said it's a great service and I've started buying from them again. Many (most?) of their games are just dos executables wrapped around dosbox, but what's nice is they get the licenses and sell the games cheap. It's also nice that many of the games are cross-platform.
- TillE 14y agoYeah, that was a really shitty stunt. Especially because, for a few days, you couldn't download any of the games you'd bought. What annoys me most is that it worked. They got a ton of attention for it, and pretty much everyone just forgot about their poor behavior. And now they've grown to a point where they're impossible to avoid if you want to buy older games. I don't harbor a grudge towards them anymore, but it does depress me that this kind of lying is so effective and consequence-free.
- Tomis02 14y ago100% legit.
