Unless I'm missing something here, this is all wrong. Markdown is OK, but for a variety of reasons, HTML is much better. What you _should_ be doing is ensuring that your page works with screen readers. That simultaneously solves any kind of machine-readability issues and also makes your website accessible for the blind.
