One downer about this drug is the absolutely horrific side effects, like "your skin feels like you've been dipped in acid" kind of horrific. Still, pancreatic cancer is just that bad, so maybe that's worthwhile.
- epistasis 2mo agoYes, the side effects were very extreme. As time goes on, I'm optimistic that management of the side effects will improve, and outcomes will improve along with that too. Much like chemotherapy, this type of treatment affects a lot of non-cancer cells too.
- jmcgough 2mo agoIt's such a big deal to get a working RAS drug. Pharma companies will be pursuing additional drugs of the same class after this - much easier to be the second than the first. I think over the next few years we may see improvements on this, or better figure out how to use it and manage side effects. Very exciting!

- jquery 2mo agoThe alternative is chemotherapy which is even nastier, on average.
- pfdietz 2mo agoI'm not sure conventional chemo actually is nastier than this drug. It sounded really bad. Conventional chemo is less effective here, though.
