The Senate, literally by design, does not represent the will of the people. Add things like gerrymandering on top and the uphill climb required of Democrats to capture the Senate keeps getting higher and higher.
- ck2 1mo agohow's that supreme court working out for you? how's all those cabinet members working out for you? that's 100% Senate, regardless what you think of its representation we can argue the details later if we somehow survive this decade btw all the nuclear treaties like weapons in space have been allowed to expire and he's looking at invading Cuba and Greenland if only for the chaos without full control over Congress the next two years are going to make the first two pale in comparison
- abeppu 1mo agoWait, wait, gerrymandering messes with the House, but how does gerrymandering impact control of the Senate? Don't senators need to be elected by their whole state?
- gruez 1mo agoI think he's just using "gerrymandering" (incorrectly) to vaguely refer to anything that's anti-democratic, such as a chamber that isn't proportionally elected.
