If anyone's curious, 98.4% of US households had television in the mid 90s (most likely the peak). In 1960 it was 90%.

If anyone's curious, 98.4% of US households had television in the mid 90s (most likely the peak). In 1960 it was 90%.
- bigstrat2003 2mo agoAnd I would wager that the numbers are still very similar. One doesn't need to pay for cable TV to watch TV these days.
- dpoloncsak 2mo agoIf you're implying ~60% of the pop is pirating cable I don't believe it's anywhere near that high edit: oh I think you meant streaming-only. Yeah, maybe a lot higher...I don't have a good gauge on that
- vel0city 2mo agoStreaming only, OTA+streaming, etc. The only people I know under the age of 40 with "cable TV" use it pretty much exclusively to watch sports.
- account42 2mo agoYes and even streaming on non-TV devices is kind of a modern continuation of TVs since you can consume the same crap there.
- weberer 2mo agoAre you forgetting about broadcast TV? NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX are enough for most households. Cable isn't the value-add that it used to be.
