Food and rent are not affected by tariff money. Food is grown locally in the US more than nearly any country, so people will survive if their solar inverter is $205 instead of $200 (and the asshole that imported it is paying $100 instead of $50)
- solid_fuel 1mo agoFood and rent are affected by everything else getting more expensive. Fuel is used quite extensively while farming - in case you haven't ever been on a farm - and with this idiotic war with Iran fuel costs have gone up massively. Tractors and farming equipment are not just domestically produced, they make heavy use of imported parts and raw materials. Now with these tariffs, imported metals and components are more expensive. You don't have to take my word for it though! I don't even know why you're trying to make this argument when you can just go look through a grocery store and see how much more expensive food is now than just a few years ago.
