CATL now sells batteries online for $63/kWh [video]
- toomuchtodo 2mo ago8,000 cycles while retaining 70% of capacity. ~20 years of daily cycling.
- mrktf 2mo agocurrently my wish for energy storage if the could manufacture cells with <1% self-discharge rate. Imagine possibility to charge your battery system in summer and live though winter (sadly I need something of 1MW cells)
- toomuchtodo 2mo agoWhat is your approximate latitude and winter solar insolation? I think it's unlikely batteries in the near term meet that seasonal storage you mention, and therefore you might be better suited to overbuild solar and combine with geothermal for heat, with a combination of fossil gas and wood burning for backup heat. Check me on that, my assumptions might be inaccurate.
- dlcarrier 2mo agoI can't watch the video right now, but I presume LFP, from the thumbnail. They're a lot less likely to catch on fire than NMC chemistries.
