I noticed many shuttered during COVID then they never got turned back on, then eventually got removed. I have seen indoor fountains gradually being replaced with water bottle filler stations, but I personally wonder how often those filters get replaced.
- frompdx 2mo agoIn Portland, OR there are 100 or so public fountains known as Benson Bubblers. If you drink from one there is a small chance it is one of the bubblers I machined back in the day. Unfortunately, there have been a number of instances of these bubblers being used as a bidet so you can imagine folks in the know are hesitant to use them. However, the Water Bureau says they are routinely cleaned. https://www.portland.gov/water/about-portlands-water-system/bubblers https://www.portland.gov/water/about-portlands-water-system/...
