I dont think Geekbench is a good cross-platform benchmark, given what it measures

  Geekbench is the only consumer usable cross-platform benchmark. It matches SPEC differences between platforms

      AFAIK it's mostly self-contained outside of basics like malloc. If you have any evidence to the contrary, post it.

      Does that matter? I don't care of Apple's thread scheduler is faster or slower than Windows' or if their throttling algorithm behaves differently, I just want to see how it performs in a given task.

  On the contrary, it is actually good. For all the hand wringing when someone’s favourite platform loses out on a Geekbench comparison, the benchmarks are quite consistent, even across platforms, and track SPEC results fairly accurately. Of course it’s not perfect, but then, nothing is.

And less than a day later Apple announced the M6. The timing has to be a coincidence, but it is quite amusing.
