Investors "should be on alert" as US financial risks mount, says market expert [video]

- jfengel 2mo agoYou can't win that race. By the time you've heard that the market is crashing, it has already crashed. The institutional investors will have extracted most of their profits, and you will get a far lower price. The conventional advice is that time in the market beats timing the market. Even if it crashes (and it sure looks like it's going to), it will return to its present price within five years (and usually much less). You'll do no better jumping out and jumping in. I'll admit, I'm starting to question that conventional advice. The US has pumped a ton of free money into the markets over the last decade and a half. It has cause massive inflation -- much more than consumer inflation, which has been comparatively tepid. Saying "this time it's different" is nerve-wracking. If I had confidence in what I just said, I'd sell it all and go live in a hut in the woods. So I'm "alert", but all that's doing is stressing me out.
