The point is that you can use AI to gain root on things you already own → no need to buy new things or be selective → no need to be limited by the Pine hardware selection.
- utopiah 1mo agoexcept that is not true, it is an example of a successful attempt by one person on one device, it does not necessarily generalize to others device of other persons. The fact that this specific device by that manufacturer on that version is now more open is great, but maybe other versions can't be modified the same way. So my broader point remain, if you do care for openness, even though such individual actions are positive, it is not contributing as much as economically support initiatives that already sell and support open hardware in the first place. Im not advocating for buying more gadget or against RE, I'm rather advocating for not having to RE in the first place.
