That is not Canada's current situation, let alone its desired situation.
And diplomacy has many options between appeasement and provocation.
- 1attice 2mo agoYou are ignorant of the context. Read about the last-minute changes to the US position: they contained several requests that, for internal reasons, Canada can't grant without weakening our federation. Specifically, abandoning French language protections. Remember, we're a fissiparous country already; this US proposal was bait for Carney to alienate half his constituency. Carney was placed in a constructed temptation and successfully passed the marshmallow test. Americans, eff off, eh?
