- trehalose 2mo agoArguing about who's the largest group of traumatized children and which groups are less significant trivializes all childhood trauma.
- cultofmetatron 2mo ago> Sure, never mind the millions of jews in concentration camps. Or what about the jews being terrorized by the likes of hamas, al-queda, taliban, al-shebab, IS, or any other islamic terror organization worldwide? Over the past 80 years, the number of children involved may dwarf the figure you got from hamas. the levels of shamelessness here on display here is breathtaking...
- dyzone 2mo agoIt's called oppression olympics

- cultofmetatron 2mo agohmm inquisition, conquistadores in south america, and british expansion into india, the genocide of the kumir ruge and congo under leopold and the holocaust had nothign to do with islam. atheist here, from my perspective, all the religions seem to lean in teh direction of violence when paired with a greedy elite. also have you read the old testament? large sections of it come down to "god told us to kill them so we did down to the last sheep" islamaphobia is a symptom of the uneducated.

- flossly 2mo agoJust forgot that the Gaza oppression is ongoing, with the perpetrating govt still making claims on escalating it further, and the ww2 concentration camp oppression was stopped ~80 years ago. Both are bad. But thinking that there is a connection between the two is indeed olympic-level mental gymnastics. At least in ww2 perpetrating govt tried to hide it because they knew the ordinary citizens would not take it lightly. In the current case ordinary citizens climb hills to watch and rejoice.
- msdz 2mo ago> Sure, never mind Where did you take the “never mind” part from their statement?

- code_biologist 2mo agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_support_for_Hamas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_support_for_Hamas In a cable leaked by WikiLeaks in 2010, Amos Yadlin, former general of the Israeli Air Force, said in 2007 that Israel would be "happy" if Hamas take over Gaza and regarded it as a positive step, in order to make Gaza to be treated as a hostile state. The details of money flow are complicated, but there are credible rumors of Israel funding Hamas via Quatar. There's a chance Hamas would have lost leadership to the Palestinian Authority had Israel not supported it during that era. https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-799792 https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-799792 Former Mossad Chief admits to government funding for Hamas via Qatar, calls policy a mistake
- hnedeotes 2mo agoThis is interesting and should make you think but it's the same issue with infiltrators/agitators in other groups. If all it takes for a group to start resorting to violence and eventually establishing as part of their identity the killing of "others", when instigated by some authority figure/small group of instigators - specially with lies and historical distortions - this itself points out that the nature of that group is problematic doesn't it? Specially if that group has a history with thousands of terrorist attacks across all the world, even when just counting the last 25 years. It's the same if you join a left-wing group that's "just demanding" some social justice, as an undercover paid actor, and then you steer it to start killing people who are deemed "against" their objectives, or the reason they need to act. Then some people go and said they were "infiltrated", but was it so? Or was it just waiting for some nut case to come forward? If I tell you to go kill all the cats in the neighbourhood and you go, you're as or more dangerous than I am for suggesting that isn't it so? While I'm sure Israel is no angel it doesn't seem to be the one putting criminals in hiding near schools and civilian infrastructure and I also don't understand what people want them to do? Have no country? So others can then do with them as they please? Like telling them to "go back to their country". While it's obviously all part of a political ploy, jews should have a right to a homeland. No-one talks about Egypt and the other surrounding countries interests in this, in having a "Palestine" identity that didn't even exist a few decades ago. In fact, if you go see the first declarations, made by some Turkish guy, looking like the brother of Abramovich, sent to Palestine at the time, there's not even mention of anything Palestine. And lastly, it's very rich to live in countries that have benefitted from this (oil) and follow ways of life that require this, while sipping on their $15 expresso's machiatos... So in fact, perhaps there's many called "humanists" in the west that have way more blood in their hands than they would like to understand, or pretend not to, while filling their wallets and living as good samaritans. Maybe they should globalize intifada next to their homes to see if they also like living like that. This is not to say that Israel should have the right to bulldoze, kill and take lands of others for building high-rise apartment complexes but as far as I know and seems to be documented, it was the supposed Palestinian Authority's that many times refused land agreements and split-state solutions... But I guess here in this website where most were covid infected it doesn't matter.
- nhuser2221 2mo agoThousands of millions they seem pretty happy now
- bilbo0s 2mo agoWell, to be fair, that's also hundreds of thousands of impoverished kids in in the US as well. (In fact, sometimes the kids don't even need to be impoverished for the mom to fail to feed them and beat them silly every night.) Also hundreds of thousands of kids throughout parts of Central and South America. And then of course, there are the millions throughout Africa. Don't even get me started on all the future Iranian soldiers we're "training" right now. And on and on and on. Point being, a world where children are not made to suffer is a world that can't exist as long as humans are humans. Because adults, from the time before time, have made victims of kids. I'm not sure it's able to be stopped? It seems part of the human condition.
- estearum 2mo ago> I'm not sure it's able to be stopped? It seems part of the human condition. Yet somehow there are many places in which it has pretty much stopped?
- squigz 2mo ago> Point being, a world where children are not made to suffer is a world that can't exist as long as humans are humans. > I'm not sure it's able to be stopped? It seems part of the human condition. The most important part of human nature/the human condition is our ability - or perhaps even need - to reflect and grow and change. It happens slowly, but it inevitably happens. Any way though, I'm not really sure what your point is. That we shouldn't care or try to stop it because it's "part of the human condition"? That we must care about all these injustices equally? That if we can't address all these injustices equally, we mustn't address any?
