The article neglected to mention Flock isn't just for ALPR any more. It's been widely reported as collecting cell info, wifi and bluetooth from motorists, which seems far, far outside any "public safety" charade. There's no way to opt out from this data collection for passerby. The accused might even want to claim self defense against an assault on their rights.

- imglorp 1mo agoLeonardo devices do evidently, not Flock specifically. https://deflockilm.org/what-flock-cameras-can-actually-do/ https://deflockilm.org/what-flock-cameras-can-actually-do/ PS and besides, it would be leaving money on the table if any of these camera vendors were not attempting to sell any identifiable emissions correlated to license plates: that would be a valuable data set.
- phendrenad2 1mo ago> Neither is a feature of the Flock cameras watching Wilmington right now — the distinction matters, and saying otherwise would only hand Flock an easy way to call us careless This. This is the problem. As Jonathan Swift wrote, "Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it." I'd bet that > 90% of people who are anti-Flock truly believe that Flock cameras are tracking cellphones also.
